Knowing MAPPA’s credibility, the new anime will not disappoint the fans with its visuals.

Kyoshi Matsuda will be directing the anime. Earlier, he helmed season 2 of the Kakegurui spin-off. Michiko Yokote will be in charge of the scripts. It is to note that, earlier, he oversaw the popular cowboy bebop anime scripts. Moreover, Nao Otsu will be in charge of the character designs. Masato Koda will work on the music composition. In 2019, a Chinese firm produced a 38-episode TV series based on the Lookism manhwa. Though, it didn’t perfectly follow the source material. But, on September 25, 2022, at the Tudum event, Netflix revealed its plan for an anime remake. Studio Mir will animate the show. And popular K-pop band Ateez will perform the anime’s opening theme, Like That.

Netflix has the sole streaming rights. It will stream Lookism Anime globally, which also includes South Korea. Earlier, it also revealed the release date. The anime was supposed to debut on November 4, 2022. However, in light of the Halloween tragedy of October 2022, Netflix pushed the airing date.

The anime is about Park Hyung Seok, who is bullied at school for his looks. He is fat and plummy. Thus, Park is constantly under body shaming attacks. Hoping to escape this, he moves to Seoul. The story focuses on a high school girl, Suzume. She lives with her aunt in southern Japan. One day a man called Souta arrives in her area. She follows him and finds a door in the ruins of a mountain. The world through the door is a different one. Disasters ruin it. Soon the door closes, and they find themselves in the middle of chaos. To make matters worse, a feline entity named Daijin turns Souta into a chair for a tradeoff. With time running out, Suzume must embark on a perilous journey across multiple doorways to different parts of Japan in order to prevent impending disasters and rescue Souta before it’s too late.

The animation quality of the film is nothing short of spectacular, boasting awe-inspiring cinematography that will leave fans breathless. Rather than opting for the familiar urban landscapes of Tokyo as in his past works, Shinkai has instead chosen to focus on more understated regions of Japan. He carefully selected picturesque landscapes that serve to highlight the rustic charm of abandoned rural trains, bustling ports, and verdant tangerine fields.

Shinkai’s attention to detail extends not only to the visuals but also to the soundscapes. The renowned musical group RADWIMPS have once again lent their talents to the Shinkai’s film. The group managed to keep audio effects playing throughout the film, only pausing for brief minutes to enjoy the peaceful silences. However, this time the music has failed to connect with the fans emotionally.

Films like Your Name and 5 Centimeters per Second, allowed for poignant character moments, making the musical score and OSTs all the more impactful. The title of Hunter X Hunter Chapter 395 was ‘Founding: Part 1’. The chapter started with Henrigh checking his camera roll. He concluded that the Heil-ly family used their abilities to warp the ships. Later in a meeting with Wang, he planned to track the family members. Meanwhile, Nobunaga, Feitan, and Phinks were heading to the Heil-ly’s to take them down. Then they entered their secret hideout and knocked down the bathroom door. There they saw a stranger and forced him to join them in their search. Interestingly, they found nobody. Thus, they concluded all the people from the hideout fled. The panel then turned to a flashback of Phantom Troupe in Meteor City.

It started with young Chrollo, Shalnark, and Frankling searching for a videotape in dump heaps. They wanted to watch something fun. And the suspense of not knowing what was in the tape couldn’t hold them any longer. Finally, they found one. But Uvo also spotted it, and so they clashed. But Phinks and Feitan snatched it from Chrollo. In reality, Chrollo gave them a fake one. Later in the church’s video room, he played the tape with Pakunoda. They decided to dub the video together. The chapter ended with a panel showing a few men kidnapping children and taking them away in a van.
