Sarazanmai Season 2: Renewal Status!

There was a solid hype around the show even before its premiere. The news that MAPPA and Lapin Track are working together on a project was enough to excite the anime fans. Fortunately, when the show came, it didn’t disappoint the viewers and turned out to be an action fantasy treat for them. It goes without saying that it had a lot of flaws. It must happen due to the busy schedule of Studio MAPPA. In fact, there was a rumor that this show will enter one season of wonders because the production studios collaborated for one season only. Therefore, now the chances are very less that fans will ever see the sequel of this action fantasy series. 

What’s The Show About? 

The first season of Sarazanmai follows the story of Kazuki, Toi, and Enta. They accidentally break the statue of Kappa. This statue serves as the guardian god of Asakusa. As a result, Keppi, the prince of the Kappa kingdom, transformed the three of them into kappas. They joined Keppi to collect the Dishes of Hope that can fulfill the wishes of anyone who possesses it. To acquire these Dishes, they have to collect Shirikodama of zombies. The other empires control this society by manipulating their desires.

However, these kingdoms are the sworn enemies of the Kappa kingdom. As a result, all the three boys have to defeat the zombies, and there is only one way to do it. They have to say the phrase “Sarazanmai,” but they have to be united when they say it. 

Sarazanmai Season 2: Release Date

Even if the second season of this show is in the cards, it won’t premiere anytime soon. Both MAPPA and Lapin Track have their handful of projects, and it must be difficult for them to spare time for the sequel of this show. Yet, if Sarazanmai Season 2 gets the green light this year, then it might release by the end of 2023.

Both the first and the second films got a great response in theatres as well as on Netflix. The viewers really liked these films, and the critics praised them as well. At the time of writing, its first and second films have a score of 7.45 and 7.68, respectively. Also, the second movie ended with the line “to be continued” and teased the arrival of Sailor Moon Eternal Part 3. One of the voice actresses, Kotono Mitsuishi, talked about this teaser line and stated that the original manga has a storyline beyond the fourth season.

She also added it there would be a continuation, then she would like to do it as soon as possible. Therefore, the fans can expect the third film or the fifth season of the anime to be on the cards. They can also anticipate an official announcement to take place very soon.

In the second film, the viewers saw Usagi transforming into an Eternal Sailor Moon and defeating Nehellenia. Mamoru and the other Sailor guardian helped in defeating him as well. Sailor Moon Eternal Part 3: Release Date

The official green flag for the third film is yet to come from the producers. But the chances are high that it will come this very year. The Sailor Moon franchise still has a lot of stories to cover to provide a satisfying conclusion to the fans. However, it is still unclear whether the next part will come out as Sailor Moon Crystal Season 4 or Sailor Moon Eternal 3. The critical reception of this show is quite the opposite of the reaction given by most of its viewers. It reflects on the show’s MAL score because it holds a poor score of 6.08 on the platform. But the popularity of this Netflix’s original anime is good enough as it has a total of more than 50K members in its MAL group. The streaming giant considers every single factor before renewing any show. Hence, Season 1’s poor reception might be the reason they haven’t renewed Revisions Season 2 yet.

Fortunately, Netflix didn’t pull the plug completely either by announcing its cancellation. So, there is still a possibility that the fans will see the second season of this mecha anime. However, for this, the streaming giant will need a solid storyline so that they compensate for the poor critical reception of its first season. 

Kaguya Ide On Second Season’s Storyline

As previously mentioned, Revisions is an entirely original piece of creation. Hence, it isn’t easy to guess in which direction its storyline will move. The producer of Shirugumi, Kaguya Ide, also talked about how difficult it is to find a good storyline. According to him, script development is a really long process, especially when one has to develop a script of an original series. But it is the most important thing for the world-building of the series. The makers already developed the world in the first season.

So, the script development of Revisions Season 2 will be a bit easier for the studio. By the look of Ide’s statement, it seems like the studio hasn’t started working on the storyline of the second season. It might be bad news for the fans who are still hopeful about the return of this anime.

It is tough to predict the sequel’s release date until Shirogumi officially announces its second season. If the sequel of this action mecha series is really on the cards, then the production studio will likely announce it by the end of this year.
