  • Log Horizon Season 4: Canceled For Good? Failed To Justify Manga

    The third season of Log Horizon premiered earlier this year after a long gap of six years. Now, fans of this show are worried that they might have to go through a hiatus again to see Log Horizon Season 4. As a result, they have begun to demand the next installment of their adventure drama right after the completion of its third one.     Log Horizon is a Japanese action adventure anime TV series. It is an adaptation of Mamare Touno and Kazuhiro Hara’s light novel series of the same name. Satelight and NHK E produced the first season of this show that came out on October 5, 2013. Studio Deen picked up the anime for its second season that premiered on October 4, 2014. The third season of the anime took a long gap of six years before premiering on January 13, 2021. It ended on March 31, 2021, after running for twelve episodes.

    Log Horizon Novel Compared to the Anime

    The serialization of the Log Horizon web novel series began on April 13, 2010, and is still on the run. Whereas its light novel adaptation ran from March 2011 to March 2018 and ended after releasing a total of 11 volumes. The debut installment of the anime used the plot from the first five volumes of the novel. Its second season maintained the same pace and adapted content from the next five volumes. The third season of Log Horizon was pretty different as it began by adapting content from the web novel series.

    Its first five episodes were pretty slow-paced compared to the first two seasons of this show. Since the fans were watching the series after six long years, they expected it to be interesting and better-paced. However, that didn’t happen. Not only that, but it reordered some events as well. Some of them were needed to adjust the storyline, but some of them felt pretty odd. By the end, the third season found its stopping point at Volume 13. Unfortunately, the authors have published only 14 volumes so far.

    Hence, currently, Studio Deen doesn’t have enough source material to create Log Horizon Season 2. But the good thing is they will eventually have enough content as the novel is still running.

    It has been six months since the ending of the anime’s third season, but the makers are still pretty tight-lipped about its future. However, it is quite common as the producers thoroughly analyze the performance of the series before giving it the green light for another installment. They judge the show on the basis of its performance, viewership, critical reception, popularity, and several other factors. So, let’s analyze all these factors in order to find whether there will be Log Horizon Season 4 or not. 

    Log Horizon has a huge fan base. So, when the show returned, they made sure to make it a grand one. The show got a good viewership, as expected. Its critical reception was also on the positive side as it received mostly positive reviews from everyone. At the time of writing, the show’s third season holds a score of 7.04 on MyAnimeList, which is quite decent. The popularity of this anime is also off the charts. Its third season has more than 184K members in its MAL group, and its rank in popularity is #959 on the same platform. The disc sales of the anime managed to do pretty well, especially after a decline in the market.

    However, the only thing that doesn’t seem to favor Log Horizon Season 4 is the availability of the source material. But fans don’t have to worry. Fortunately, the production will have enough content for another installment in the next one and a half years. The time difference is not a problem here as the anime has already returned after a long gap of six years. So, it is likely that Studio Deen will take their time in announcing Log Horizon Season 4. But the chances are great that sooner or later, they will give the green light to the fourth installment of this show. 

    What Will Happen In The New Season? 

    In the third season of the anime, the viewers saw Shiroe’s part gaining the Mofur sisters, the druid Litka, and the ancient Monk. On the other hand, Princess Raynesia is planning to go on a journey to the Chinese server to save Krusty. However, in order to do so, she has to kill the Genius Bucaphi. Plant Hwyaden and Esetelande are in a civil war. By the end, Shiro, Akatsuki, and Naotsuga defeated the Eirenus Genius. They managed to free all of the adventurers confined in its alternate space. 

    Now, it is likely that Log Horizon Season 4 will focus on Raynesia’a quest to save Krusty. Kanami’s story will also come into the limelight, and these two storylines will begin to converge. Susabo, the Genius of Voyages, will serve as the main antagonist of the upcoming season. Well, he will cross his paths with both Raynesia and Kanami.

Studio Deen will renew it only after getting enough source material for it, and then its production will also take at least one and a half years.
